BRR track Sprint at VIR Patriot
Big news!!! You've waited and now you get your first look at a new event for this year. We will be doing our first track Sprint on VIR's Patriot course March 31. Brought to you by the same people who make all the autocrosses in the Blue Ridge Region happen. Think autocross but on a racetrack with no cones. Nice smooth, flowing, quick course, with safety in mind. What more could you want Register soon. Space is limited to 60 cars and you will get lots of seat time

Re: BRR track Sprint at VIR Patriot
I saw on the event you have to be a BRR SCCA member to register. I attempted to download the membership form from the website and the link doesn't work. Is there another place this can be obtained?

Re: BRR track Sprint at VIR Patriot
If you go to scca.com you can register and become a member there. Select brr as your region. They will send you stuff and a member card once you registerGsniper wrote:I saw on the event you have to be a BRR SCCA member to register. I fixed the link on our homepage so it takes you straight to the application portal on SCCA's website as well.

Re: BRR track Sprint at VIR Patriot
As far as rollbar rules, is it basically broomstick test?
I'm tempted to bring my Factory Five Roadster. Single roll hoop with diagonal support directly behind driver. 4-pt. harness.
The other concern with that car would be sound...any sound restrictions?

Re: BRR track Sprint at VIR Patriot
Bryan I have been reading and researching trying to figure out a good answer to this question. I have now editted this reply 3 times and have the final answer based on things I found from hpde groups that go to VIR. It is ok. The standard is either 4 point bar or in your case a 3 point bar behind the seat. I would recommend arm restraints that you can easily make work with your current harness setup but not required. Also your vehicle will be a no passengers car u less the passenger side has a hoop as well.NoCones wrote:As far as rollbar rules, is it basically broomstick test?

There are no sound limits at VIR.
We would love to have you help instruct also.

Re: BRR track Sprint at VIR Patriot
Couple of quick questions about VIR. From what I understood while registering the tech inspection is basically that of a normal autocross? I am running my stockish 85 GSL-SE with street tires (Looking for 14 inch track tires, see my post in the classified section) is there anything I should be aware of? I am trailering my car down possibly Saturday evening, in the event of any unforeseen circumstances with the RX-7 is there any issues bringing another vehicle last minute? Any other things that I should know? I have the helmet taken care of SA2015 open face, printed out the tech form. Things have changed a lot since I used to run with BRR back in the early 2000s, so I want to be prepared. Thank you.

Re: BRR track Sprint at VIR Patriot
As long as a car passes the tech requirements you will be fine. Tech will be a little more strict than for autcrosses. It is a self tech but we will be doing a once over quickly the morning of and out a second set of eyes on things. Mostly to check convertibles and major safety issues. It is everyone's responsibility to ensure safety for themselves.rx71985 wrote:Couple of quick questions about VIR. Re: BRR track Sprint at VIR Patriot
As I figured. I used to work tech in many events back before many of you even ran with the BRR. I am trying to get back into the events as my work and life schedule permits, I am happy to see that after many years away that things like the VIR event are happening. Still looking for a set of spare track 14s or good lead on cross drilled 4x114.3 (4x4.5) 4x100. Or What is a good tire these days, for a semi budgit price.

Re: BRR track Sprint at VIR Patriot
Do you have to have 14inch wheels or tires? I've got some 4x114 or some 4x100 13 and 15 inch wheels as well as several 13inch tires and 15 inch tires.rx71985 wrote:As I figured. Re: BRR track Sprint at VIR Patriot
Loose tires, I would need 14's for my stock rims. Mounted, pretty much anything goes as long as they are 114.3 pattern and the offset will work. Double drilled 114.3 and 4x100 rims are just a bonus for if I ever get another miata or to run on my daily driver Sentra.

Are riders/passengers going to be allowed in the cars at this event?

Re: BRR track Sprint at VIR Patriot
My car will not be ready for this event, so I have withdrawn my registration. That means there is one more spot available for anyone who may not have gotten registered before the cutoff of 60 entries.

Re: BRR track Sprint at VIR Patriot
That is to be determined. Scca time trial rules state that no passengers are allowed during timed runs. We also reserve the right to limit passengers based on skill level and how everyone is behaving. We may also limit it to only Instructors or registered participants. We will probably make a decision during the dayGsniper wrote:Are riders/passengers going to be allowed in the cars at this event?
