I'm in need of an open, dual axle trailer for the Miata. Any suggestions? Scott mentioned Econotrailer. Is it located in PA? Any local lots or folks with a trailer? I'm guessing about 16'?

Mick,

16ft would be fine for the Miata. I would not go much shorter, since you will want the flexability to tow other cars. You never know what you will need to tow, or what project cars you will find :).

Something else to consider is a single axle trailer. Some years ago I used Jay Almond's to tow to Nationals. Very light weight - 700 Lbs with a gross of 3500 Lbs. Only downside is that it might be too light if you ever move to a heavier car.

That said, I bought a 2 axle myself - Steve Strickland's old trailer. I used it once for a heavier vehicle. It's an open bed so total weight is around 1,300 Lbs which keeps total weight under 5k which is the tow limit for my RV.

Decent used trailers pop up for sale all the time.
