I'm rebuilding the head on a 98 Volvo V70 that I picked up for $1.00 +$56.00 VA tax from a friend. The timing belt tensioner let go and the pistons kissed 6 valves into the head.
I found another head and have already finished building it, but now I need to get rid of the old one.
Does anyone know where I can dispose of the old head, I'd prefer not to just take it to the dump.
Maybe a metal recycler? Anyone know of any near Christiansburg?

Any metal recycle place will take them. Don't know about C'Burg, but Pulaski has Gem City Junk. I bet any local junkyard will take it.

Whats it made of? If its aluminum, take it to cycle center or any other metal scrapyard to be weighed. Aluminum ( radiators, heads, ect. ) is in enough of demand that it gets a decent scrap price, something like 70 cents per pound. could be higher now, but that was what i got turning in old aluminum wire last year. Copper commands nearly 2$ /lb.
Hey, what does this thing do *zap* oww,.... so that's what it does!
