It is with great sadness I write to you, to inform of the passing of Richard John. Richard, as many of you know was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer towards the end of 2007, and at 7:30 PM last night lost his battle in his home, wife JoElla at his side.
Speaking with JoElla this morning, Richard lived his last few days in much the same manner many of you have seen him in over the last 20+ years; attending events with his BMWs! Richard enjoyed his last laps around VIR on May 16th, and even attended Vintage at the Vineyards near Winston-Salem with his 72 2800CS.
Any possible anecdote one could offer at this point would be merely a whisper against the boom of an impression one gets when merely hearing the name Richard John, though perhaps we can try. For those attending the dinner at Corned Beef tonight, we will celebrate the life of this living legend, so bring your best Richard story to share with those in attendance.
Arrangements as of yet have not been announced, please keep an eye on the obituary section of the paper, and I will announce any info once received. Please keep your thoughts and prayers with JoElla and the rest of Richard's family and friends.
