Shocks

Post by mseal »

I'm going to have to replace the rear shocks on the Miata temporarily while I send the old ones to Koni for a rebuild. I am not sure about trying some other shock or to buy a 'backup" set of Konis. Any suggestions? Something a little less expensive wouldn't hurt my feelings.

Gone several years ago. I thought about OEM replacements for a short time, but I don't want to lose an edge.

if you want better than an OEM, you can try the KYB AGX adjustable shock. Saw them for $160 + $20 shipping for the pair on E-Bay

I would check Miata.net or Ebay for a used set of Koni's and then send those off to get rebuilt.

http://www.amazon.com/Monroe-71343-Sens ... 072&sr=8-1
Amazon.com has the monroe sensatrac (part no. 71343) for $67.25 with free shipping.

I know they may not be the best, but they may get by.

Also,
Advance Auto has KYB's GR-2 (part no.: 341254) for $82.
KYB-AGX (part no.: 741036) for $99.
The sensa track at advance is $95.

I just got a set of shocks from Amazon and they arrived in 3 days.

I will buy one if you buy the other...lol

Actually, and I shouldn't tell you this :D ,

The stock rear set up would probably make the back end stick better.
You want the back end as to have less rate so it will keep it's bite,
the front Koni's with the bigger sway will help transfer weight to the rear and
the softer rear with softer shocks will keep the inside tire planted better.

I run konis on the front and a set of jag adjustable but softer than konis on the rear. Harder shocks on the rear do in effect up the spring rate after all..
