Ok, I'm looking at helmets once again, and found that on the SCCA.com site that ECE 22.05 is accepted, which opens up a new range of helmets. However, has anyone had any experience with the ECE standard helmets? Is there anything I need to look for/worry about when looking through these helmets.
I've also found it referenced as ECE 22.05 and as ECE R22.05. The only thing I can find as a difference is that the R stands for "Regulation" and is dependent on which year the sticker was made. Does anyone know if this is really the case, or is there a more in depth difference?
I'm mostly asking because I have found one that is supposed to be ECE 22.05 certified, but I don't want to have trouble getting it teched, or to make a purchase that will be useless because I didn't get the right info about the differences.
I do wish that the places that sold helmets would list a lot more info on the certifications and availability on their websites.
