WTB: 91 Miata Differential - found one, it's alive again

Post by gnalaj »

I am looking for a used differential, prefer VLSD, for my 1991 Miata. I broke some teeth on the pinion on the way home from work the other day. I don't think I'm ready to play in CSP, so I am not looking for the Torsen LSD.

I think I have a complete assembly lined up, I will see it tomorrow night. The housing on mine is in good shape, it was not a spectacular failure. It was making noise under acceleration load (whump, whump, whump), but quiet when coasting or decelerating. I wasn't quite sure what the problem was until I took it apart, but I was hesitant to drive it until I knew. I would hate to lock the rear wheels at 70mph! I will let you know if I might need the one you have a lead on.

I hope to have it back together for next weekend, but you never know, so I may be interested in a ride for the weekend.

Hey Buckie - something seems to be wrong with the diff I had lined up, it doesn't turn freely. Do you still have a lead on one?

thanks for checking on the diff and I may still need a ride. I may go ahead and order one from Planet Miata If I don't find one this morning
