Goblin's Go this weekend!
Not seeing some of the BRR guys on the entrant list, but Drew and I will be there driving the Protege in ITB- two 1.5 hour ECR's, a SARRC sprint race, and maybe the 45 min CCPS.
Weather looks good, the NC Region always puts on a good show, and there should be some fall leaves still around (plus, it's VIR...)
If anyone from the region makes it, stop by the paddock and say hello.

Was going to go, but can't. I'm doing some work on the car for the Spec Miata shootout in Dec. at CMP.

It's not a NASA or SCCA event. Here are some details:aged racer wrote:Hadn't heard about that- NASA thing? I guess set-up would include snow tires...

I missed that, haven't been on the SM forum for a bit. Looks like fun, if I can get out of holiday mode...

So what happened with the SM/SRF group? I heard it was an *interesting* start (glad I couldn't make this event...)

Re: Goblin's Go this weekend!
You may have seen this already, but here's a good summary:
http://forum.specmiata.com/cgi-bin/ulti ... tml#000006
We were in impound, only saw the aftermath. Cars and parts everywhere. No split start despite driver request- apparently only one pace car??

I was just looking over it. Interesting that they couldn't find any cars in the paddock to use........

Re: Goblin's Go this weekend!
Thought an update might be of interest. Other than the SRF/ SM fracas noted above, it was a super weekend for racing, great weather and the usual good company.
Drew and I shared the Protege in ITB for both ECR enduro's, winning our class on track both days but unfortunately coming up a few pounds short in impound in the second ECR on Sunday. We got the finish but no points with the related penalty (not fussing, it was my job to make weight and I just missed it). We had a good but small field in ITB, enough to make things interesting.
I was able to get a good start in the Sunday SARRC race and came home in first despite a late race on-track incident with an ITA CRX clipping me as he spun (guys- lock'em down when you spin!!) Actually had a piece of his front valance stuck between the RR tire and rim, but the tire miraculously held enough air pressure to get me home.
Gary and Greg ran FV (not sure where they finished), and Scott Malbon survived the SM start for a solid race. He also helped us with refueling in the Sat ECR, which was a big help as we had my car plus racing buddy Emmitt Staley's SSC Cobalt to pit. Lynn, Eric, Tod, and Bill Bradley worked the races, Mo and Sam were there, nice to have friendly faces (even Mo's...)Hope I didn't miss anyone.
Altogether we ran three races plus the Friday practice day and the related qualifying. We're beat and broke, but a good way to end the season. (No juice left for the zoom-zoom this weekend...)
