Annual Inspection question

Post by Scott »

Where can I get an annual inspection done for my SM? It has a SCCA log book and I will be doing my first SCCA race at the MARRS/SARRC challenge at VIR in May.

Scott, you can have it done at the track, anytime Friday evening or Sat morning. The guys are usually there by late afternoon.

That's how I usually get my annuals done (assume that's what you need).

All I *should* need is an annual. The car just got an SCCA logbook last September, so it should be fine, plus I just had my NASA annual done.

Scott,

What roll cage bars does your car have on the passenger side? does it have a lower bar and an upper bar at or slightly below the bottom of the window opening (or two bars in the shape of an X)? I ask, since I got caught with out one in March, and had to rush to get one welded in. The upper bar or X on the passenger side is a new requirement for 2009.

Look at page 92 of the GCR.

Ok, another new guy question. Is the annual inspection valid from Jan 1 to Dec 31, or is it 365 days from the last inspection?

Scott,

Your door bar is fine. The annual inspection is good for 12 months from the date of the inspection. In years past, if the car was not raced within 3 months of the inspection, it required a reinspection, and always needed to be reinspected at the beginning of the year. Most of the cars have their inspection dates at the begining of the year, so it is to your advantage that your inspection date would be later in the year (after the beginning of the year rush).
