Bosch 250, Grand Am Questions

Post by DLingenfelter »

on VIR, and Grand AM's website they don't say the exact day (Sat or Sunday) that the GT class will run or an event schedule. Daytona prototypes are cool, don't get me wrong, but I prefer watching the GT class.
What day will those be running?
How packed should I expect VIR to be?
Anybody else going?
There are two races I've been wanting to watch at VIR, Speed World Challenge Touring Car, and Grand AM and this is the year I plan on doing it!

DP and GT were on track at the same time last year - Sunday afternoon. Speed GT should be Saturday afternoon/evening.

VW TDI Driver selection report. Winners need to provide a check for $45K to VW for the racing season.

wow, I got an email that stated 25grand (no thanks), but 45 grand? That's a lot of spec Miatas...and potential for the Mazda competition ladder system.

For that level of racing, that's not a bad price. I assume it's an arrive-and-drive type deal? (VW will take care of all the maintenance, transportation, etc. between races)

IIRC the Infiniti (or was it Formula BMW?) series that ran at the Indy F1 cost $100k for the season. If you were good enough and could beat on the doors of enough sponsors, you could get it back and then some. The trick is to find good sponsors.

I wouldn't want to depend on sponsorship in the current economy.

The only catch is that you must pay for an damage repair...
