Wheel backspace

Post by mseal »

I'm ready to order wheels for the CSP project. I've decided on 13 X 8 size. Diamond is the choice even though they are a bit heavier, but they are also less than half the price of Real Racing. Tony I believe runs Diamond wheels. Anyone else? I'm trying to determine the backspace when ordering. I'll probably be running 215-225 tires with stock brakes. Any suggestions?

I'm getting new wheels soon- want to buy mine for $175? They are 4" backspace I believe...they clear the 1.8 brakes, and only required a fender roll to clear the tires with my soft-sprung, too-low car. With a good suspension they should clear no problems. It would be better to go with a 5" backspace, but I know DR wheels start having interference problems with the larger brakes with some of the higher offsets.

Sorry Mick- never got a PM about the wheels, so I [finally] responded to the other one!

They are about 15-16lbs ea. Bought them used from a guy in NC some time around October, I think. 4x100 13x8 4" BS (from my measurements). They are in fine shape...they only come with 15/16 lugnuts..so I either use one of my stock ones...or just run all stock. Either way has worked fine. I don't have my 13x9s yet, so I wouldn't want to part ways with them quite yet...

When I ran 13x8s in DSP, I ran a 215/50R13 with a 5" backspace. These were Diamonds that I got from Jeff Underwood, with the RWD center. You could probably go with the 225/45R13 or even a 235. Granted this is on a FWD Integra, and not a RWD Miata.

When I do get back into running full-time again, I plan on going back to a 13x8, if I still have the Integra at that time...

Probably wouldn't hurt to give the Rota RB a look. I found a set of 13x8 for $400 shipped. A bit more than the Diamonds though.

255's are the goal, but not likely this year. 13 X 9 and a Hoosier budget. I've been struggling to stay within this year's budget with buying parts, wheels, tires, truck & trailer. Maybe next year. I've even given thought to running 700's for the durability this year, but the 710's are like crack. I'm addicted to grip.
