Southeast or Northeast Divisional?

Post by MR2 KIX »

I am looking to go to one the Divisionals at the end of this month. Who is going to the Southeast in Tenn. and who is going to the Northeast up near DC? What day are you leaving and coming back and where are you staying? Basically I am looking to hook up with those that will going from this area, just not sure which event to attend. What made you decide which event you would attend?

BTW, why the big numbers at the NE and relatively light numbers at the SE?

Thanks

I'm going to SEDiv in Nashville. I'll probably leave early Friday, stay Friday and Saturday night, and come back Sunday after the event is done.

As for speculation on the numbers, the DC region already has something like 250 cars per LOCAL event, so it wouldn't surprise me if a majority of those people also sign up for the Divisional. On top of that you've got VMSC and Philly region nearby, not to mention all of the other people coming from NE.

If they could handle it, I bet the NEDiv would take more than 300, whereas the SEDiv probably won't hit 200.

Ok, I have signed up for SE. Where are you all staying? Are you interested in meeting up and driving down together? Is everyone coming back Sunday night?

I haven't made arrangements on where to stay, but I'm certain it will be cheap.

I think it would be a good idea to get some sort of caravan going, as it's typically a good idea on these longer drives.

Sunday night is my planned departure to come home, and since that's what I've done in the past to come home from Toledo and Atlanta (7 hours and 6 hours, respectively) it shouldn't be that big of a deal to make a similar length trip from Nashville.

Are you driving the nasty pickup or the MR2?

I will be taking the pickup. I hope some more Minis sign up. Just me and one Mini right now. I will do some research on hotels. So, what would be a good location for us to meet up on Friday for the trip down?

when is it

Post by yenko66 »

I can't find the TN divisional listed on the SCCA page. When is it... I may just have to take that friday off and caravan down with everyone. Now if I could just get Steve to tow my Car down there with his race truck it shure would save us both some gas money.

Here is a site diagram form the 2003 SEDIV at Nashville.
Was narrow and fast, kinda like the taxi way at Mercer but longer with deep drainage ditches.

I guess I will be at the Smyrna Sleep Inn which is the event hotel, unless anyone has a better suggestion.

Anthony

I will be calling to see if there is a good place to meet in Wytheville. Are you and Suzanne going to stay in the Sleep Inn as well.

Philip and Karen

Are you interested in setting up a time to meet in Christanburg and where are you staying?

Is there anyone else from BRR that is planning on going?

Well, I'm game for a caravan, but I'd need a place to stay in Roanoke/Blacksburg on Thursday evening.... I'm 3.5 hours from Blacksburg, so I'd rather not leave that early on Friday morning. :p Matt Grainger was here last Saturday and was on his way to Nashville; he said that it took him 9 hours to get there, and to keep in mind that Nashville is on Central Time, so we "gain" an hour going there.

BTW, I made a reservation at the Sleep Inn, and got a room with two double beds, if anyone needs a room.

Still not completely sure what my plans are, but meeting in Christiansburg sounds good to me. I'm in Blacksburg so whenever you'd like to meet would be fine.

I was planning on leaving early, but it looks like that may not work for everyone else. Is everyone planning on getting their car teched on Saturday instead of Friday night? How long from Christiansburg to Wytheville? I was thinking we would meet in C'burg in time to meet Anthony & Suzanne in W'ville at 11:00. What time would that put us in Nashville?

Should be about 6-6.5 hours from Wytheville. So given the time difference, around 4 or 4:30.Does anyone have walkie talkies. We keep a set of two for skiing but they work great when travelling in groups...If anyone needs to leave earlier thats cool,we can always catch up !!!!After all it does have a HEMI in that thing !!!

If we get there around 4:00 - 4:30, that will be plenty of time for tech on Friday night. I will look around for some radios if no one is using them. However, I do have Nextel ---Done!

BTW Anthony, I tried calling you last night around 9:40 and got no answer. I will try again tonight.

Ok, I did some checking around and found that the Smyrna Sleep Inn is not very close to Nashville SuperSpeedWay if you are coming in from the northeast. The Speedway is in Lebanon, TN and their is a Sleep Inn in Lebanon which is much closer and pretty much right on our way down. It is advertised as the closest hotel to the Speedway.

I have already cancelled my reservation at Smyrna and made one at Lebanon. I made my reservation online and the internet rate was much better than the rate Smyrna is giving for the SCCA group rate. I was told it would take 35 minutes to get to the Speedway from Symrna. (It was 22 miles away and southwest which doubles our drivetime going in) Lebanon is about 15 to 20 minutes (13 miles) and right on our way in.

Just thought I would let you know if your interested, here is the link below.

Well, if Philip's not going to make it, that means I have a room with two double beds available at the Smyrna Sleep Inn... if I don't have any takers (and I'm guessing I won't, since it sounds like the Lebanon one is a better bet), I'm going to cancel it tomorrow and stay at a friend's house instead.
