Properly heat cycling tires

Post by rx71985 »

Looking at some new Potenza's RE-71R. I can get them cheaper from discount tire direct than tire rack. On top of that tire rack wants 15 a piece to heat cycle. As far as heat cycling goes, how about around 3-4 decent paced drives up and down bent mountain on 221. I am not talking anything illegal just 4:30-5:30p.m. ready to get home on a Friday afternoon pace. Would this be good enough, or would they cool off to much on the remainder of the trip home (20 minutes) to make it worth while. Just a thought. How does everyone else do it? Besides paying the extra 60 bucks.

That won't get them hot enough. I've found that it takes one autocross to knock the new off of them and then they will be good after that
